Even before graduating from the SGH Warsaw School of Economics, I decided to focus on my professional goals, i.e. work closely related to investment banking, operations and related projects. The first step was to quit my job, which I kept only for financial reasons and which gave me no satisfaction. After a month of searching, I got the opportunity to work for BNP Paribas Security Services. It was a big step on my career path, because after graduation I was prepared only substantively, but I lacked understanding of business from the inside. The biggest challenge for me was dealing with stressful situations. However, it soon turned out that dealing effectively with problems is my strong point. In retrospect, I can advise anyone starting a career not to be afraid of challenges and take on the toughest tasks possible. This way you will learn a lot in a short period of time.

After a year, when I was promoted to a specialist, I began to think about the next stage in my career. Although I had the opportunity to develop myself in BNP, I did not want to live in Warsaw anymore and decided to move to Tri-City with which I am personally strongly connected. I got a job as an analyst at the Financial Crime Unit at PWC. I chose such a way to broaden my competences and try my hand at working for the Big Four. I consider the time spent there to be very successful in professional terms, although I quickly realized that I did not like the culture of work there. At the same time, I was acquiring knowledge from another industry related to what I really wanted to do. After about 6-7 months, I was decided to return to a company which activity would be directly related to investment funds. As a more experienced person, I was looking for bigger challenges and a good place for my family.

This is how my way to work at IFDS in Luxembourg began. I wanted to participate in advanced projects and be in a place where the heart of the industry beats. Moving abroad was difficult due to logistical reasons and language barriers. However, cooperation with people from very different cultures, with great ambitions and rich experience, motivated me a lot. I thought I knew a lot, and it turned out that I could really learn a lot. A year and a few months have passed, and I received a promotion offer and am going to be a manager in the current company. I can advise everyone to look for a place for themselves and not be afraid of change. Even if it turns out that the change was not fulfilling, another one can bring us success. The most important thing is to draw conclusions from the decisions taken.

My biggest success

Working my way to a promotion in Luxembourg to the position of a manager.

My advice for SGH students
Do not be afraid of challenges and changes, look for your place effectively, skilfully drawing conclusions from your decisions.
